The most important responsibility of any parish is to hand down the Catholic faith to the next generation. Our Religious Education program utilizes a team of volunteer catechists who assist parents in presenting to our students both the teaching and traditions of the Church as well as the opportunity to apply those teachings to their life..
We strive to have a classroom experience that is small enough so that it fosters the opportunity for students and teachers to engage in discussion as well as completing the curriculum set forth by the Archdiocese of New York. Our emphasis has always been to provide a safe environment for our students, and we commit ourselves to that now more than ever.
We are not just a Sacramental program. Our students are expected to complete a full 8 years of religious formation. During those 8 years, students will be prepared to celebrate Sacraments. Prior to the reception of the Sacraments of First Penance, First Communion and Confirmation a parent meeting is held so that parents can become aware of the subject matter that will be taught. In this way parents can reinforce at home the work that is presented in the classroom.
Our Confirmation preparation involves a year-long intense program that begins in the fall with a retreat day for the candidates. Also required is the completion of a service project as well as a research report on the religious name to be taken at Confirmation.
Opportunities to participate in the Youth Choir or become an altar server can help students become more actively involved in parish life.
All students are expected to follow our code of conduct in the classroom and beyond. Please see Code of Conduct tab for details
